Criminals who pretend they have a weapon to police are one step away from ending up in jail for an additional year under legislation sponsored by Sen. Tracey J. Eide, D-Federal Way.
The bill, supported by Eide's local police department, passed the state House today and now takes the final step to the governor's desk for signature.
Police say now more than ever, suspects are implying they have weapons as they flee from capture. The legislation is Senate Bill 5413
