I went to the aerospace roundtable (not to be confused with the first meeting of the Aerospace Taskforce on June 24) this morning. The group is chaired by the Gov's special envoy Bill McSherry. We met today at Edmonds Community College. The main focus was on increasing aerospace training programs, but we also talked about bridging the gap between Boeing and organized labor. I called on both sides to work together to find some middle ground during the upcoming legislative session.
On Friday, the Snohomish American Legion Post #96 presented me with an award for securing $50,000 for an ADA approved wheelchair ramp and corresponding lighting and stairway improvements. The money was secured in 2008 and the project completed in early 2009. I went on a tour of the facilities and met with the post commander and other local veterans. I was honored to receive the award from such a distinguished group.
