OLYMPIA — The Washington State Arts Commission and Humanities Washington are accepting applications for our state’s poet laureate.
“As a member of the Arts Commission, I have a deep appreciation for the work done by the Commission to promote statewide art awareness and ensure art resources for generations to come, “said Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle.
By implementing readings, workshops, lectures and presentations throughout the state, the poet laureate works to encourage the writing, reading and appreciation of poetry throughout Washington.
“I encourage all who believe they qualify to apply for this very important position by the deadline of Oct. 23, 2009. This work ensures a culturally diverse Washington – something we should all take pride in,” Kohl-Welles said.
