Senate passes Resolution to approve redistricting plan for decade ahead

Wednesday, February 01 2012 - Lisa Brown - News | Permalink

Olympia, WA – Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown issued the following statement regarding EHCR 4409, the Redistricting Plan:

The Washington State Senate voted today to approve the new Legislative and Congressional boundaries for the next ten years. This reflects the technical changes the Redistricting Commission approved in the weeks following the plan submitted on January 1, 2012.

Senator Brown called the plan a “testament to the strength of our redistricting process.”

The Legislature had until February 7 to either take no action, adopt the plan approved January 1 by the Commission or to make changes.

The new district boundaries will take effect after the November 2012 election.
