A somber mood filled the Legislative Building on Wednesday as the Senate passed a resolution honoring fallen Washington State Trooper Tony Radulescu. Trooper Tony Radulescu was shot and killed in the line of duty as he pulled over a driver in Kitsap County on February 22nd. On Wednesday, the Washington State Senate honored his 17 years of service in the Washington State Patrol.
Sen Haugen: “We honor Trooper Tony, and in his honor, we honor you, our troopers.”
Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen spoke to a gallery filled by Trooper Radulescu’s family, fellow troopers and State Patrol Chief John Batiste. Also rising in support was Senator Tracy Eide.
Sen. Eide: “Thank God for each and every one of you in the Washington State Patrol, thank God for Tony. It is a sad day for the Washington State Patrol family. It’s a sad day for the Washington state family. All of us.”
The Senate Resolution was followed by a resolution in the House, after which both chambers rose for a standing ovation in honor of the sacrifice of the Radulescu family and the State Patrol.
