29 Washington legislators have signed onto a brief to the United States Supreme Court defending the Affordable Care Act. Senate Health and Long-Term Care Committee Chair Karen Keiser was joined by colleagues in the House and Senate on Thursday in announcing the filing of the amicus brief supporting the healthcare reform, the constitutionality of which is to be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. Keiser says several lower courts have already upheld the ACA as constitutional and that the act is already having a positive impact in Washington state.
Sen. Keiser: “The Affordable Care Act has already helped our state and our citizens in many ways. As legislators we are on the front line of the healthcare crisis and on the job to implement this law.”
The show of support for the Affordable Care Act was part of a larger demonstration of support for the law across the nation this week, as Washington legislators represent 29 of the more than 480 from all 50 states who have officially signed on to the brief.
