On June 24, Washington state was granted $24.3 million in Energy Stimulus funds for the State Energy Program.
Our application was one of 10 states to first receive approval from the U.S. Department of Energy.
If we demonstrate successful implementation of our proposed plan, we could receive additional funding for a total of over $60 million.
A majority of this funding will be dedicated to efforts identified in SB 5649, SB 2289 and SB 5921 such as energy pilot projects, assessments for farm weatherization and credit enhancements for financial institutions (to provide incentive for them to finance renewable energy endeavors).
This investment is critical in moving Washington state toward a renewable energy economy, supporting local jobs and industry and promoting energy independence.
