OLYMPIA — Today, Sen. Paull H. Shin, D–Edmonds, visited the Puget Sound District Cub Scout Day Camp at Lynndale Park in Lynnwood. Shin got a chance to tour the camp and speak with the Cub Scouts about the importance of being civic minded.
One hundred local boys from Bothell, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mukilteo and Everett are represented at this four day camp. Their activities are focused on teaching the 12 core values that Boy Scouts America likes to adhere to. Shin spoke with them about the importance of these values, especially citizenship and perseverance.
“As adult leaders in our community we have a duty to be good role models for all youth in our lives,” said Shin. “The first step is being involved, showing them how to be good citizens of their community. I commend the continuing effort of the Boy Scouts of America in teaching these values.”
Currently, four of Shin’s grand children are involved in the Puget Sound District Cub Scout Day Camp and his daughter is the camp secretary. His son-in-law oversees activities of the local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
