Keiser bill seeks to expand Family Medical Leave Insurance

Thursday, January 24 2013 - The Hopper | Permalink

Family members would no longer have to make the choice of work or caring for a newborn or ill family member under a bill proposed in the Washington State Senate.

Imagine a son having to quit his job to take care of his seriously ill father. A bill sponsored by Sen.Karen Keiser, D-Kent, would seek to spare people those crushing choices. Senate Bill 5292 will provide partial paid leave to care for a new child or a seriously ill family member. Keiser says at a time when families are struggling, they should not have to choose between their work and dealing with unexpected medical problems.
