Seattle Sen. Ed Murray, chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus, went on TVW's The Impact program last night and said budget negotiators are not at a stalemate but are simply trying to process loads of information in a short period of time.
"We are in an unprecedented economic crisis," Murray said. "Sixty days and probably 67 days is not going to be enough to solve this problem," Murray said.
Instead, he indicated this year's special session will likely run well into next week.
"The thorniest issues really are about revenue," Murray said. "That's sort of, what I would say, the major sticking point."
Murray said general agreement has been reached on an $800 million revenue package but "there is not agreement over the pieces."
