Taxes ‘not going to be our first priority’

Sen. Rodney Tom, a Bellevue Democrat and vice chairman of the budget writing Ways and Means Committee, appeared on the Dori Monson Show this week to talk about the prospect of using new taxes to plug what appears to be a $1.2 billion budget gap come January.

“Just like last year we’re going to be putting together a budget that will be an all cuts budget and then we’ll see where different groups and the citizens of Washington are and if those are the cuts they want us to make,” Tom said.
