Rodney Tom, a Medina Democrat and vice chair of the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee, sat down Friday to discuss at length the all-cuts operating budget proposal Senate Democrats unveiled today. Here, he discusses the most difficult cut to make, the thinking behind cuts in education and health care and how he's going to sell the plan to his colleagues.

"A lot of these legislators are having to wipe out 10 years of their life's work here in the Legislature in a single session," Tom said.
